The Cosmopolitan Hotel: The Classiest Stay You’ll Find In Vegas

This newly opened hotspot has none of the trashiness typical of Las Vegas — and all of the glamour!

I live in fear of Las Vegas. The seediness, the aggressively short dresses, the fat old dudes wandering around smoking stogies and dropping $1000 chips like they’re Monopoly pieces all terrify me. Also, I tend to gravitate towards aesthetically pleasing locales — and the neon lights and XXX of Sin City are anything but. Thankfully, however, there’s now a hotel that — for now — is a welcome respite from the showgirl scene. Welcome to the Cosmopolitan!

What makes the Cosmopolitan a place that the Sex & the City gals of yore (we’re not talking the shiteous film sequel here, but the fab former TV series) would be proud to hang out at? For starters, everything in the luxury resort, from the restaurants to the interiors to the fitness center, is high-end. And with a $3.9 billion price tag, that’s exactly as it should be.

You’re not going to find old-school classics in this hotel, though. Instead of Chanel, there’s an AllSaints Spitalfields, a British company known for it’s edgy boots and T-shirts. Instead of an iconic spot like Soho House, there’s a Marquee nightclub — which is still hot in NYC after 10 years of existence (which must be breaking some kind of record, as the shelf life of NYC and LA hotspots is two years max).

Like Marquee, the restaurants you’ll find at the Cosmopolitan are all uber-trendy boites that already exist elsewhere. You’ll find the sister restaurant to Jose Andres’ Jaleo in Washington D.C., while David Meyers’ French bistro, Comme Ca, also has a home in LA. Scott Tenant‘s infamous Italian restaurant Scarpetta and Todd Mark Miller‘s STK have homes in all three cities now, while Bruce and Eric Bromberg‘s Blue Ribbon Sushi can be found in NYC, as can Costas Spiliadis‘ fabulous Greek restaurant  Estiatorio Milos.

The casino is small by Vegas standards at 100,000 square-feet (which I, personally, prefer), making room for other, more important things — like a movie theatre and two fitness centers. Seriously, of the two gyms on the property, the one I tried was the best hotel gym I’ve ever had the pleasure of working out in. There are so many machines that you won’t have to fight for a treadmill.

Additionally, there are three pools on site — including a ‘nightclub’ pool, a daytime dance party pool and a relaxation pool. Word. This means — you guessed it — the Cosmopolitan is going to be THE place to stay come summer.

But will you find men here? Although this hotel has a totally girly vibe, there is one rule of thumb when it comes to Vegas (and no, I’m not talking about what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas). Men will RUN to where the girls are — and from the looks of the ladies that were hanging out here, you’re going to find the best quality of men that actually stay on the Strip. Think Bradley Cooper in The Hangover, not Zach Galifianakis.

And just in case you were worried things might be a little TOO chic, let’s just say that you have the option of a see-through shower. You’ll have to stay there to see what  I mean…

Keeping it real, LoveTrekkers!

Laura xoxo
